Sylovance is a crew of three tree surgeons in Freiburg. We reduce and lift crowns, take deadwood out of old trees, fell the ones that have to come down and grind out the stumps afterwards.
Most jobs are one or two big trees in a private garden that someone has started to worry about, or the old limes, chestnuts and yews of a parish churchyard, where every branch comes down on a rope rather than onto a gravestone.

Starting prices. The site visit is free within 25 km and the written quote gives you the real figure.
- I Pruning Crown reductions, crown lifts and deadwood taken out of mature trees, always cut back to a living side branch. From€220
- II Felling Straight felling where there is room to drop the tree, sectional dismantling on ropes beside houses, sheds and walls where there is not. From€290
- III Stump Grinding Ground out 20 to 30 cm below the surface, backfilled and levelled, so grass can be sown straight over it. From€90

How a Job Runs
Five Steps, the Same Every Time
- 01You write. Town, two photos, a rough height, to hello@sylovance.com. We reply within three working days.
- 02We visit. Henrike walks round the tree, free within 25 km of Freiburg.
- 03The quote. Written, cut by cut, within ten working days of the visit.
- 04The day. Barriers up, boards over the lawn, neighbours told the week before.
- 05Clearing. Logs in 33 cm rounds where you want them, chip taken away or left as mulch.
No deposit on private jobs under €1,500. Parishes are invoiced after the work, on 30-day terms.
Non-urgent work is booked four to seven weeks ahead.
Storm damage threatening a house, path or road: same or next working day where the crew is free, +€150. Email photos straight away.
The Season
October to February
Heavy reductions and felling run from October to February.
From March to September we only do light maintenance pruning, and only once the crown has been checked for nests. If you want a tree felled this winter, write by early autumn.

History
How Sylovance Began
I started Sylovance in Freiburg in 2006 with a second-hand van, one climbing kit and six years of forestry work in the Black Forest behind me. The parish work began in 2011 with three old churchyard limes in the Dreisamtal. Twenty years after I started, there are three of us, still working every job the same careful way.
